Risk Challenge risk assessment workshop

Effective chemical management plays a necessary and crucial role in our journey to a sustainable future, and timely risk assessment is essential to inform sound decisions.  Because generating toxicity data and conducting risk assessments take a long time, are expensive, and require very specific expertise, efficiency can shape the success or failure of programs.

While risk assessment is very simple conceptually (i.e., compare exposure to level at which adverse effect are observed), it can be extremely complex in practice, often taking years.

The Risk Challenge workshop is designed to provide an interactive experience of conducting risk assessments in hours instead of years.  By becoming familiar with a tiered approach (see figure below) and practicing “Enough precision to make the decision,”* participants can develop skills to arrive at sound chemical management decisions quickly and efficiently.
